Tourism Tips

  • Posted speed limits are the minimum speed for most locals here. If you drive slower than the speed limit, move to the right. Locals driving in the left lane tend to go at least 10+ mph over the speed limit.

  • Traffic in Central Florida can be heavy. Allow yourself extra time when traveling on I-4 and  US 27. Use Waze traffic app for alternate route suggestions.

  • If you're looking for tourism info and discounted ticket rates, visit the Visit Central Florida Welcome Center located near the intersection of I-4 and US 27.

  • Florida is hot and humid almost year-round. Stay hydrated. Wear white versus dark colors if you're going to be in the sun.

  • We are very laid back here. We live in shorts and flip-flops. If you're looking for casual Florida attire, Bealls is a great place to shop.

  • Yes, we have alligators. They are not like sharks. For the most part, alligators are scared of humans. However, when they are fed they lose this fear and can become predatory. Do not feed any wildlife.

  • Below are some links and apps you may find of use, like Space Coast Launches and Flight Radar (to identify the planes that fly over the cabin as they begin final descent into Orlando). The Sky Guide is great for star gazing out the big picture window.
